1984 Ford Bronco – Richard B.
I acquired this 1984 Ford Bronco II XLT with a 4-speed manual transmission from a seller in New Jersey a couple of years ago. Originally, I was looking for a classic full-size Bronco, but stumbled upon this one after an extensive online search for a well-priced and salvageable truck. This Bronco was far from perfect, but already had significant work done such as a new gas tank, fuel lines, and replacement slave cylinder for the clutch. It was immediately tested just hours after being purchased. Upon driving from northern New Jersey to Pittsburgh on Interstate 80, the Bronco endured torrential rain and, later, an early spring blizzard in central Pennsylvania. After an exhilarating trip, the Bronco arrived safely in Pittsburgh and would soon embark on another adventure to the High Rockies region of Colorado. The Bronco was tested on multiple occasions during the trip to Colorado, which included emergency repair work in southern Illinois. After getting the entire break and ignition systems replaced, the Bronco was back on the road. As it approached the Colorado border from Kansas on Interstate 70, the Bronco endured yet another challenge – a severe thunderstorm that turned into tornados. After a hair-raising journey through the eye of the storm in Colorado’s eastern plains, the Bronco arrived safely in North America’s highest incorporated city at 10,200’ – Leadville. Since being registered in Colorado, the Bronco has received a lot of additional restoration work, including the installation of a new high-choke carburetor, alternator, fuel pump, and more. It draws interest everywhere it goes and has continued to be an exciting project that will eventually become restorative history.
