1984 Chevy C10 – Geoff D.

My grandfather bought this truck new in November 1983 and kept it until his death in 2009. After that, the truck was given to a family friend who planned on fixing it up. He drove the truck to his home about 200 miles away, parked it in a field and there it sat until 2021. Each year, my uncle and I go to the hunting camp that originally belonged to my grandfather. My uncle would always say to me “it sure would be nice to see dad’s truck parked here in its spot”… In 2021, his sentence changed and he said “dad’s truck hasn’t been touched. I bet you could get it back”… And that was all it took. We made the call and the family friend was more than happy for us to take on this project and gifted the truck back to me. I opened the glove box when it landed and among a few notes that my grandfather had taken about fuel mileage, the distance from home to the camp, etc., was the original bill of sale! I’m now the GM for a Nissan dealership, so the team pulled the truck in to give it a once over, before I got too carried away… I was most worried about the damage from sitting in the field. To our amazement, the frame was solid (I give credit to the fact that he never drove it in the winter, always had it rust proofed and was parked on a tarp when placed in the field). We changed the brakes and fluids and I put 1,500 miles on it the next summer. After that, it was time to go big or go home, so I installed a LS2 that produces roughly 550HP, I left it carbureted, installed a posi track and upgraded the tranny, plus a full frame-off restoration with the help of LMC truck! Thanks for taking the time to read my story, I hope you enjoyed it.

P.S… I have 2 sons, one is 15 and the other is 12. So, this truck (and the camps) will be handed down to them!
