One evening, when my wife and I went out for a date, she noticed a truck for sale on the side of the road. I had been talking about buying one for a while and she was supportive of it. “There’s a truck for sale back there”, she said as I thought about what meal I would choose at the restaurant. I hadn’t noticed it, but she did and suggested that we turn around to take a look. She’s the best. The owner had a sign in the window listing all the new parts it just had installed. It looked promising but I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
A week later, I arranged to meet with the owner and thought it would be a good idea to bring a good friend who knew their way around a vehicle. After giving it a once over he said, “if you don’t buy, it I will”. That sealed it. The deal was done and I was the proud owner of a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. I wasn’t in the market for a long bed but I couldn’t pass it up. I’m not big on “naming” my vehicles, but this one was different. My wife helped me come up with the name: “Hank the Tank”.
I’ve already made good memories in it. A good friend went on the first drive with me. My wife and I have enjoyed cheeseburger date nights in the county (while propping up a cellphone for cartoon watching), I’ve been able to help family members, took my little brothers and my mother for a spin, and went out for pizza in it with my dad while shooting the breeze. It’s been a blast!
I plan to freshen it up soon with some paint and other odds and ins. LMC Truck has already been my go-to for some small parts, and I plan to return again and again.
