My thanks to Greg Smith and his assistant, Mark Orndorf, of Greg’s Auto Body Shop located in Cumberland, MD, Bob Willison, of Bob Willison Upholstery located in Cumberland, MD, and to my son, Kirk Clayton, for all of the effort. Thanks to LMC Truck for providing many of the replacement parts needed to complete the restoration of my 1979 Custom Deluxe 10 truck.
I have owned this truck for about 35 years and throughout those years, I have nickeled and dimmed all of the improvement projects until now, 15+ years after I retired. With my son’s insistence and help, and Greg’s dedicated restoration effort and maybe some of the grunt work I provided, the truck was completed within approximately six months and I am very satisfied with the results.
We installed a 350 Chevy crate engine, Holley 4bbl with all of the extras, along with new wheels, tires, and dual exhaust. The interior was completely refinished by Bob Willison, a new steering wheel and full Chevy floor mat both supplied and installed by Kirk Clayton.
Any body part that was questionable was replaced along with the seaming and sealing of the bed. This included Raptor Coating of the entire bed and undercarriage.
It has been a pleasure to complete this project but as many know, availability of parts is becoming a problem. LMC and others have helped narrow this scarcity.
Thank you,
Glenn Clayton
