This truck was purchased new by Marcia’s grandparents, Clarence and Lula Lewis, in 1951 to be used on the family farm. It was handed down to Marcia’s parents and then handed down to us. We plan on handing it down to our children too. It ran and was in original condition with only a couple of rust holes in the cab corners and floorboard. All the sheet metal is original, even the tailgate. Clarence took very good care of everything he owned. The engine only needed the head prepped for modern gas. I did all the work myself from disassembly to the paint. I did convert it to 12V and painted the dash body color. I think it brightens the cab up a little. The paint is PPG base clear coat that turned out a little brighter than the original color, but it is pretty close and I like it. It gives it that 50’s look. My future plan is to install a 3 speed overdrive transmission so it doesn’t stress the engine at highway speed.
