As far back as I can remember, I’ve been a Ford Guy. But in my case, it was always Mustang’s. I have two 65’s, learned to drive on a ’68. As I got older, I started to see the advantages of a truck. I’ve carried plywood on top of the Mustang, but a truck would be much easier! I mentioned to my wife that perhaps someday, we could find a truck of similar vintage to my Mustang’s and two Christmas days later, she brought me outside for my surprise gift, a ’66 F100 she had found axle deep in mud on a Colorado farm. It had certainly seen better days, the body was in terrible shape, the engine barely running and the electrical system a mess. I worked for more than a year to make the truck able to move on it’s own and we managed to get it in for body and paint. What a difference! Within a few weeks, the engine (a 390) gave up the ghost and we had to move straight into the shop with the almost impossible task of finding a 60’s 390 engine. Today the truck (a 4 Wheel Drive) is driven often, and is our primary vehicle in the deep snows we have received this year. Every bit the wonder it was in 1966, this truck is amazing!
