The last 5 years have been really hard for me, to say the least. I just can’t catch a break. Every time I start to get ahead, something out of nowhere happens. Long story short, I had to find a daily driver that was good enough to get down the road, but something I could pay cash for. I saved some cash from my previous paycheck, and what was left of my savings while looking on line for what was available. I found a couple old prospects, most of which were rust buckets and didn’t look reliable enough to get me to and from work. My miles were logged and waiting to see if my 2 trucking paychecks were going to allow me to afford to pay cash for something. And that’s when my best friend and soulmate “Joy” found her, “Penny”. Joy asked me if I thought I could afford $3,400.00 to buy her. It was very tight. Not only having to spend money to travel 187 miles to see if the owner was blowing smoke, but then to drive her back home hoping she would hold together. All I could rely on was face value. My daughter JadeLynn and I will never forget the trip. My friend dropped us off in Sioux City, IA, waited for me to make a deal, I was hoping it wouldn’t be another mistake, and then he left. 187 miles at 50 mph, 5 stops to warm up, 3 qts of oil, and 1.5 gal of coolant, 20° weather with a subpar heater and cuddled up having the best conversations a father could ever hope for. We made it home. The trip has sparked a dream, and a goal for us to remodel my now daily driver Penny and pass it down to my daughter as a keep sake and heirloom with many memories attached. I stumbled upon LMC while in search for a driver’s side axle for Penny. And I will definitely be using them in the completion of this journey from pennies to “Penny”.
