1970 Chevy C10 – Ben E.
I have always been a car nut since I was a little boy. My father had 4 Corvettes over the years and I now have his 1967 convertible he bought new. He taught many things about cars, tools and doing any job right the first time. We performed a frame-off restoration on it back in the early 90’s. This past December, I was able to purchase my grandfather’s 1970 C10 from my uncle. My grandfather was a hard working Iowa farmer who also was a big influence in my life. They didn’t have much money so they took care of the vehicles they bought. My uncle still has grandpa’s 1939 4-door Chevy sedan that runs and drives also!
My grandfather passed away in 1996 and my uncle kept the truck. Since then, he has had body work done and basic mechanical items to keep it roadworthy. This past summer my uncle called me to say he was willing to part with the truck. In December, the truck made the trip on a car transport from Iowa to Phoenix, AZ. It is my daily driver and I have many plans for its restoration. I have been teaching my children about working on vehicles and plan on passing this truck down to one of them some day.
