About 15 years ago, I was helping one of my neighbors with a couple of yard tasks. When I was finished, I touched the hood of the 1992 GMC Sierra and told the owner Cleala S. if she or Fredrick would ever decided to sell, that I’d be interested. Fast forward 5 years, the couple had moved out of the neighborhood. At that point I resolved myself to missing out on having a chance to buy the truck. But, that Sweetheart of a woman not only remembered that I was interested in the truck, but had kept my phone number. To my surprise, called me to offer me the truck. I knew the history and also knew that the truck was in tip top shape. After coming to an agreement upon price, Clifford (The Big Red Truck) came home with me. It had sat for many years, but easily came back to life with a little tinkering and a fresh tank of fuel. This 5.7L is backed by the 7000R4/4L60 (pre-electronic) 4 speed transmission. I spent around $700 for new tires and full exhaust as well as a few normal maintenance items. I am the second owner and according to Blackstone Labs Oil Analysis, the 135K mile engines oil after 4K miles came back with flying colors. It’s hard to believe this truck is 32 years old! I average 700 miles a year on this truck and he’s 100% original top to bottom, including paint and interior being all original. For his 30th birthday I treated him to a new set of shoes in the way of Cooper Cobras mounted to a set of Torque Thrust II’s. This GMC Sierra SLE 1500 will outlast me!
