I bought this truck new in 1992. It was my first new vehicle and first pickup. I never looked back. I drove it daily for 22 years. It has been across the country twice and has hauled everything from countless furniture moves to tons of mulch, rocks, and gravel. In 2014 I decided she had put in her time. She was looking pretty rough. I toyed with getting rid of her but she was such a reliable truck that I decided to use her as a classroom experiment for my then 13-year old son who loved cars. So him and I started a frame-off restoration in 2014. Many years later, lots of revisions, trail and error, she was finished in 2020.

The 350 block is original but was reconditioned and built out as a 383 Stroker with 425HP. Forged crank, I-Bream connecting rods, hypereutectic pistons with a .420/.443 lift erson camshaft. The stock heads were swapped out for Sportsman II heads and she breaths through an Edelbrock 750cfm carb on top of an Edelbrock dual-plane manifold. Spark is provided end to end by MSD. Patriot headers and flow master exhaust results produces a beautiful voice. The rear end was rebuilt with 4:11 gears that gets her off the line fast. The 5-speed is stock and has been able to handle the additional horsepower. The stock suspension was gutted in favor of a customized RideTech four-link ride set up that allows her to sit at factory height but handle getting off the line quicker and handling country road turns and bends with more agility.

The interior was completely restored to its original factory showroom condition. All the replacement interior parts were sourced from LMC. Upholstery work down by Kwon Yonh Noh of Fairfax, VA

She’s not an everyday drive now and spends a lot of time garaged under a car cover, but we enjoy taking her out on the weekend. She’s enjoying her retirement.
