In the beginning of 2024, I got a 1984 Ford Ranger 4WD. I got it in our shop and started cleaning and tearing things apart. I got the cab cleaned and the seat taken out plus the seat belts, and pretty much just stripped the cab. The bed was off when I got it (it came with a flat bed) so we didn’t have to take it off. I pressure washed the whole truck and it cleaned up pretty decent. We tried to start it, but the starter just made a super loud grinding noise, and I mean LOUD. We tried fixing it but just couldn’t figure it out. It ended up just being a faulty starter. So, we replaced the starter and when we sprayed carb cleaner or gas down the carb and tried to start it, it finally started up. I was so happy to hear it run. We stripped the gas tank off and replaced it, as well as the fuel pump, so now we could fill the tank and start it instead of having to use gas in the carb. So, we put a new clutch line in and new brake lines. Well, I unbolted the gas pedal so I could have more room while we welded in the new floor pans. So, I forgot to hook it back up and when we started the truck for the first time after hooking the gas tank and fuel pump up, I couldn’t give it gas because the pedal was unhooked. I turned the truck off to hook the pedal back up and when we went to start it back up, it had lost all fire for who knows why. We just could not figure out what happened. Well, it was a faulty distributor module. We got it in and it fired right up. The truck runs good now. We are not done with the truck yet, but for now, that’s where we are at.
