1948 Ford F1 – Alex L.
I first found my truck from a friend of my dad’s, it was a couple of trucks all torn apart down to the frame. I had 2 truck cabs, a frame, hood, front inner and outer fenders, and a box for I believe an F3 at the time. It came with a ’69 Ford 302 with a c4 a 57 9 inch. After some investigation, it was determined the frame was bent so my father and myself set out to find another F1. With the help of my dad’s friend Gary Morris, I was able to track down an F1 on a farm that was pretty complete, it had a box from a ’52 but the truck had a solid frame. I bought it and got it home, that’s when I decided I didn’t want to run with an automatic, so I found a T5 and went with that. I ended up buying a lowered 3 inch front axle, Wilwood front disc conversion kit. The 302 I had with the project was locked up so I went to Maabco Motors from Texas and got a fresh remanned short block, I put aluminum heads on it at home with my dad, performer rpm air gap intake with a holly 750, points ignition still. Truck runs fantastic, I cut out the original 48 Ford dash and welded in a 46 Lincoln car dash either the steering wheel to match, 39 Ford taillights turned upside down. I love this truck, and it’s my first one to get me started in the hobby with my dad. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
