1983 Chevy C10 – Randy A.
Coming from a blue collar family, my dad bought a used Ford Galaxy 500 when I was in the second grade and still had it after I had finished college. I remember him calling me excited one day, with all the kids finally out of the house, he had bought his first new vehicle – a 1983 Chevrolet C10 Diesel. It was his pride and joy. Later on, he gave it to my brother who needed a truck to take his boat in and out of the water. Unfortunately, it rusted badly and was not taken care of as much as it should have been. When my brother called and asked if I wanted it, I was hesitant. But my oldest son convinced me by saying it is what he remembers the most about his grandfather. We had it towed and spent over 3 years (stealing a day here and there) restoring it. Never having done a project like this, I learned a lot of body work, engine work, and chassis work and I am so thankful to LMC truck for their parts and how-to videos. The truck now “mostly” looks like new and original. I thought about making it look more like a hot rod, but it is a diesel and I wanted to get it close to original to honor my father.
