Here are some pictures of my 1976 Ford F-100 pickup. It belonged to my husband, Claud. Originally, he had a 1975, but it was stolen one year when he was down at the Portland, Oregon, “Always in April” swap meet. He wasn’t able to replace it exactly, but did come up with this 1976, instead. It was his daily driver and used extensively for his automotive repair shop, too. It’s had many engine swaps. He was always craving more power, and as a result, the truck now has a 360 under the hood. I had it repainted in 2010 in his memory, shortly after he passed away. That had been his intent, and I did keep it the original color.
Claud and I used the truck every fall for deer and elk hunting. It pulled our snowmobile trailer to the mountains, and we could haul more than half a cord of wood, even with the fuel tank it had up against the cab. One time while hunting, we weren’t having much luck, so we threw a load of firewood on the truck to pass the time. Sure enough, on the way back to the highway we spotted and bagged an elk. We didn’t want to give up our load of wood, so we just loaded the elk on the tailgate and headed home. We sure did get some stares on the way down the mountain.
Nowadays, I mainly use the pickup for car shows, or to pull our vintage camp trailer, and it has won several trophies.
