Five or six years ago, I met my eldest daughter in Gatlinburg, TN for a weekend getaway. The area we explored was having an old car show with Bronco II’s. After returning home, I came across four Bronco II’s rusting away in a nearby yard, made an offer for all, and dragged them home.
This was a frame-off restoration. Animals and weather had caused significant damage. I cleaned up and reused as many of the original parts as possible, rebuilt the original 2.8 V-6 motor, and had to create a headliner from scratch. It was also updated with new rims/wheels, seals, rear leaf springs, front coil springs, fuel lines and tank, some new electric, and new vinyl floor. The back seats are the original seats. The front seats were not repairable; the current front seats are from a Ford Explorer.
The process was slow due to other priorities and hitting snags in the restoration process. With help from my girlfriend and my youngest daughter, I now have fun in the sun ride!
Thanks for the great work by Rick Hughes at Hughes Body Shop, and the many orders from LMC Truck!
