I found this 1965 C20 stepside a few miles from home. It was parked under a tree and looked like it had not moved in a while. I knocked on the door and made a purchase. I’d had several fleet sides before but never a stepside. I thought it was unusual and I hadn’t seen any around. This would be my fourth restoration on Chevy pickups. Good times.
I got it running and installed a rear tank kit, chrome rear bumper, tailgate chains, tail lights, horn button, and glove box badge – all from the LMC Catalog.
I replaced the sheet metal someone had welded in the bed with wood. It’s not factory, but it’s functional and was fun to build.
Aren’t vent windows great? I have a car and a truck, neither with AC – in Texas. No, really! No spare tires either.
I had the seat done in diamond stitch upholstery.
The ‘65 step side is an everyday driver. I get a lot of waves and honks when I am driving around town.
It has a six cylinder with a three-speed manual transmission with a granny low. Not original, but functional.
It also has front disc brakes and I added chrome wheels from the local tire shop.
Bringing old trucks back to life and making memories. Thanks LMC.
