1991 Chevy 1500 – Jeff H.

After losing a 1988 RCSB due to a fire, I purchased my current 1991 Sport locally with the belief that the motor was very recently rebuilt, and the truck overall was in good shape… After getting it home, I quickly found out the motor was newly rebuilt, but with all older parts and needed to be replaced. So, I’ve since basically rebuilt the entire truck, minus some body work that is still needed. The original intent was to have the truck be my daily summer driver. (living in Michigan and the salt, I can’t drive it in the winters.) So, LMC to the rescue, the list of parts I’ve purchased from LMC (and the local pick and pull) is as long as my arm. The truck now has all new weather stripping, all new A/C system, new dash, carpeting, new cooling system, body mounts, Dakota Digital gauges, all new controls and switches. New front bumper, valance panel and fog lights, new sport grill, and on and on. The truck sits on 20″ American racing Torque thrust 2 wheels, with a 6/7 drop, using QA1 lower control arms along with adjustable coilovers, with custom racing upper control arms, and currently a flip kit. Building this truck has given me the opportunity to bring together my sons and my father in a project we’ve done together. Creating memories that, as my father is aging very quickly, he will remember. As well as giving my two sons a chance to “work” with their grandfather, but also learn and be inspired. Future plans for the truck are to start autocrossing it and using it for “family fun”, with upgraded powertrain including a 500 hp small block 400 crate motor, and Tremec 5 speed trans, along with a 3-link rear suspension, and big brakes, and several other performance and safety upgrades.

(I recently purchased a 1991 square body Suburban to use as my family tow vehicle, and LMC has already begun being a source of parts for that truck as well.)
