When I was 25, my grandfather gave me a 1977 F150 pickup that I had for 3 years. In that time, I rebuilt the transmission and the 300 inline 6 was running great so I didn’t have to touch it… It was awesome. At the time, I wasn’t into old trucks like I am now.  Some of the hardest times of my life were happening and because of those hard times like paying bills and keeping a roof over my head, I sold the truck and have had this heavy regret ever since. I wish I had pictures I could post of it.

20 years later, I’ve been able to finally save some money I had put aside to buy an F100. I wanted to get another ’77, but living in California I didn’t want to have to deal with smog. So I purchased a 1971 F100 long bed with 302/C4, same color as my old one with the same old truck/grandpa smell. The truck needs some work like any other but it runs and drives great and I’m looking forward to getting dirty with this one. I’m in absolute awe with my purchase and I know my grandpa would be proud and would have forgiven me. This is my daily driver and it runs excellent. I will NEVER get rid of this one, not even in tough times. Now being older and have learned from tough times and how not to get swallowed up in them, I want to create memories with my daughter and share with her this story. I even told her she can drive it to school when she gets her license.  She’s excited… I’m thankful my new 50-year-old truck is still around and I’m able to be driving one again… Thanks for letting me share.
