This 1983 Dodge D-150 left the Show Room Floor with a unique future ahead of it.
The original owner drove home, pulled the 318, 4 speed trans and rear end out, and sold it to a friend. The driveline was replaced with a 1974 440 4BBL. 727 and a 9 ¼ Sure-Grip. Then it was off to the racetrack. For the next 40 years, the truck ended up with 5580 original miles, ¼ mile at a time. The truck was named “The Ghost”.
Dana Burth, Owner/Driver kept this truck inside his shop, except when it was Race Day. This truck was completely Rust Free, which made the build a refreshing project. Dana was slowing down, but his Mopar was alive and well. I purchased it in Red Oak, Texas and its new home is in Goliad, Texas. A complete tear down was completed, finding the 440 in extraordinary condition, the only addition was a larger Milodon Pan, timing cover, Mopar Performance Valve Covers. The 727 sports a Hays 2800 Stall Converter. The suspension received all new bushings, ball joints, and linkages with some powder coat. It rides on Mickey Thompson Sportsman’s that get some help from a CalTrac traction system to plant the Horses to the Asphalt. The fuel system is a fuel-safe unit and the battery, mounted completely to the rear, between the frame, along with the electric pump and filter unit.
The stopping comes from Hydroboost Braking, courtesy of a late model Mopar D2500. LMC Truck options, such as seats, seals, gadgets and gizmos made the truck a remarkable old school hot rod!!!
Paint scheme is a tribute to Sox & Martin, the name (Rambunctious) is tribute to Gene Snow, gone but not forgotten in the world of Mopar!!!
Finally, help from my grandsons Blake and Brad during the build cannot go unnoticed!!!
Thanks to LMC Truck for the remarkable availability and service to keep my Dodge Truck Looking Good!!!
