Hello, I am the original owner of this 1957 3100 custom cab pickup. I bought it the year after graduating from High school. Customizing started right away. It was lowered with a drop axel and dearced rear springs. Next, the body was shaved with the emblems and door handles coming off. The truck came black so that had to change. A1958 Mercury color was the new color. Next addition was a white naugahyde cover for the bed. At this time, pickup trucks were just farm trucks. Those of us that were customizing Ford and Chevy trucks in the 50’s were looked at as rednecks. Getting married and having a family, the truck was brought back to original height. A half cab camper and pulling a ski boat was the thing. I made black walnut arm rest and veneer head liner. The original 283 was bored out with a new cam and Edelbrock four barrel. The last paint job was done in 2016. When the weather is nice on Sunday mornings, we take it for a spin on the back county roads on Whidbey Island, WA.
