1959 Ford F100 – Dylan V.

My brother and I found a pair of 1959 Ford F100’s in a barn, one tore down into pieces, the other a complete roller. We bought the pair intending to build one truck out of the two. Then I decided I needed to save this truck rather than just use a few parts and take the rest to a scrap yard. Included in the purchase of both trucks we also got several sets of doors, and pretty much an entire other body. Over about a year’s time working on it on and off, my brother and I got it back together using different parts and pieces that we got included. We both figured the engine would be shot since it had sat in a barn for over 20 years and not knowing what condition it was in before being parked, but I thought I would try to bring the engine back to life. With a new ignition system and a carb rebuild kit and a fresh oil change, it amazingly came back to life. After finding the engine would run I decided to change out the two barrel intake and carb with a 4 barrel intake and an Edelbrock carb. Using LMC brake parts I replaced the entire breaking system. I also put a new clutch master cylinder, and new rear axle bearings in. It still has a long way to go, but it’s nice to see it on the road again rather than sitting in a junk yard. My 4-year-old son corrects everyone that asks about it saying that it is his truck, we both enjoy taking it to car shows and talking to many people about how we got it back on the road. I like to think if this truck could talk, it could tell you all the things it’s been through and everything it has seen in its 66 years.
