I originally purchased the truck when I was in junior high back in 2002, had a 250 in line six and a four speed. The original in line six was replaced with one out of a 1977 Nova. The first upgrade I ever did to the truck was add power steering and a front sway bar. After I graduated High School in 2006, I started taking the pickup a part. Removed the in line and started getting ready for a new V8 and had big plans, but life and finances decided otherwise. So, the truck was pushed into a barn at my parents’ farm until 2020. My older brother motivated me to get the project going again. He built the 283 and installed it. I upgraded the transmission to a Tremic TKX 5 speed with a hydromax hydraulic clutch set up. Upgraded the front brakes to disk, and the upper and lower control arms to QA1 tubular ones. The rear suspension trailing arms were upgraded to tubular arms and an adjustable track bar. QA1 shocks were installed on all four corners. The truck was lowered 2.5″ in the front and 3″ in the rear. After that, I went onto the body work, replaced the inner and outer rocker panels, cab corners, floor pans, and toe boards. New front sheet metal was purchased for the inner and outer fenders and well as the complete bed. I liked the look of the chrome with black so I decided the matte black was going to be the color choice. The paint is single stage from Summit Racing, matte black with winter white. The interior is gunmetal gray. On the inside of the cab vintage air was installed as well as new gauges from Auto Meter using there American Muscle series gauges. I upgraded the wipers to a modern style from Detroit Speed. There is still a few odds and ends to tie up, but I really have enjoyed the project and look forward to doing another one.
