Over the past 4-5 years, my dad and I have meticulously tracked and itemized 1,248 components into the build of our truck. This project, which began during COVID, has been a priceless father-son bonding experience. We imported the truck from Oklahoma, an original Texas short box truck, all the way to Alberta, Canada. Initially, we aimed to “freshen up” the truck for driving, but it evolved into a true pro touring show truck. Our theme combines classic appearance with modernized components behind every door, hood, and dash. The truck’s heartbeat is a Smeeding performance 383 stroker, paired with MSD ignition, customized intake components, and Holley sniper EFI smarts. It roars down the pavement with a super street fighter TH350, tamed by the press of a switch from the infamous gearvendor. The truck is controlled with QA1 suspension and the stopping power of Wilwood disk brakes. Every nut and bolt was meticulously researched, thought of, and installed, accompanied by learning, laughter and frustrations. This truck holds immense sentimental value for both Dad and me, and the build time even more so. It was classic father-son bonding at its finest, also providing my dad with bonding time with a close family friend. Unfortunately, this build was one of his lasts as he battles ALS. This truck means more to our family than anything, and the photos, laughs, and fun will always be remembered as a bond between man, machine and best friends. Thank you to everyone who helped get this truck to where it is today. Though the bank account is a little lower, the memories this truck has given us are enormous in comparison. I wish I could share more photos of the build, but a small taste non the less. Here’s to many miles and keeping classic American horsepower alive.
