1968 Chevy C10 – Michael M.

I bought this abandoned truck for parts about 18 years ago, it was setting in a back lot behind a business about a 3 miles from my shop. I gave the guy $400 for
it. An all original base C10, the only options were an AM Radio ( That still worked) and a vanity mirror above the passenger side sun visor (I’ve never ever seen this option, I’ve looked extensively… nothing! It was made into the sun visor and stamped with a GM logo.
Got it to the shop to find the 230 cu inch in line six was completely locked up and after finagling with it a few days, I
was able to free the engine… it ran absolutely perfect. It was then that I decided to make it my shop truck.
After lowering the springs front and rear with a Victor lowering kit ( Victor Torch) the Long wheel base looked cool. I added my shop logo on the doors and put “Betsie” in service for over 15 years.
All the while the I6 never ever used nor leaked a drop of oil, for over 45k miles driving her every where.
Upon approaching my retirement, I decided to give myself a retirement gift… a renovated Betsie.
I shortened the frame and gave the six cylinder to a friend for his project. Put a few patch panels here and there, put a built 4.8 LS with a 4L60e transmission, converted the column from a 3 on the tree to an automatic (still has the original column and steering wheel), added Vintage Air, a navigation system, a cool stereo, backup camera, all new led lights, a digital dash cluster, a new swb wood floored bed, new glass, new window regulators, new paint ( not a GM color) and a hundred other things and now… Betsie is a transformed girl.

Go Betsie!
