1966 Ford F100 – Michael R.

I was encouraged by several LMC representatives to email in pictures and details about my 66 F-100, “Bertha”, so here we go!
Bertha is a 1966 F-100 Custom Cab, 4×2, SWB. Originally equipped with a 352 CID V8 and Saginaw 3-Speed, column shift manual transmission, she now sports a 390 GT V8 and C6 automatic transmission donated from a 67 Fairlane. The 390 features “C8AE-R” “ Poor man’s Cobra Jet” heads and a 428 CJ camshaft. The floor of the cab has been completely replaced with a new floor, that’s a ’64 style floor with step wells. She is a patina finish, which is 95% “faux” or fake patina, applied with some clever painting techniques and tons of hours with an airbrush. She has been completely frame-off restored (mechanically). Every nut, bolt, washer and clip. She rides on a complete DJM Dream Beam suspension system, including springs, shocks and lowering Bertha 4 inches in the front and 5 inches in the rear. The factory 9” rear axle received donor treatment as well, transplanting the 3.23:1 open differential carrier, with the 4.11:1 Trak-Lok unit and also from the Fairlane. I did a fab modification to a seat from an 81 F100, which allowed the OEM 66 seat adjustment slides to be retrofitted to the 81 seat, bringing modernized comfort, while maintaining a retro look. I personally rewired the entire truck, by refurbishing the wiring harness using bits and pieces from three different trucks, (two 65s and what was left of the original harness). As a former Ford Master Technician, the harness was all cut and resoldered with heat shrink shielding and rewrapped with period-correct electrical tape sheathing, and appears 100% factory. Every gauge was restored and hand painted by me and every sending unit/sensor has been replaced with OEM Ford parts. Every electrical component in/on Bertha functions to 100% OEM specifications.
If anyone needs/wants further information or specifics, feel free to contact me anytime! Thanks for bringing us great parts and service LMC!
