1977 Ford F250 – Rodney R.

My wife’s cousin, Andrew Mendoza invited me to join him in building ’73-’79 Ford trucks along with ’90-’96 Ford trucks last July in 2024. This one was his personal 1977 F250 Camper Special.
We purchased ” The Green Machine ‘ last September. He had it in good running condition with 83K original miles on the 460 big block. He had all of the necessary engine work completed but the truck had some bruises. It was acquired with a green rattle can spray paint job and little to no XLT trim. Very little to no rust on the frame or body.! It was a Colorado truck!
Over the course of the winter, I pulled the seat, installed new carpet, reinstalled the reupholstered seat, sanded entire truck pre body shop and ordered tons of LMC parts for after paint.
After completion, I now realize why a lot of guys get rid of the trim all together. It is a pretty tedious journey when these trucks are missing a good portion of what it requires to make an XLT truck!!
Any hoots….. We chose to tweek the original paint scheme just a bit. Kept the Ford bright Blue and set up the second tone at Whimbledon White. I custom painted the original rims Whimbledon White as they were from Ford in ’77.
So in March, we got her back home from the body shop. Ordered a fair amount of new trim clips, front bumper, weather stripping and etc from LMC Truck Parts and Accessories. Did some picking and trading for any trim that was missing. Couldn’t be happier with the way everything turned out! I was born in ’77 so this truck has that special meaning of age for me. We are thankful her cousin sold us such a nice truck! Always look forward to firing up the 460 big block and getting 9 miles to the gallon for a beer run to town.
