1986 GMC 1500 – Allen B

I picked up this old GMC for a father-son project. Originally, we were going to install a 5.3 LS and run the wheels off it. Plans changed quickly once I took the bed off for better access to the fuel tanks and lines. Since the bed was off, we decided to paint the frame. You can’t paint the whole frame if the cab is on, so off came the cab. This brings us to where we are today. My sons and I tore the truck down to the frame and have gone through almost every nut and bolt, replacing any worn-out parts we found. The LS was freshened up with a BTR Truck Norris cam, complete gasket kit, a new water and oil pump. We built the 700R4 and the 208 transfer case to handle the new power plant.
As of tonight, we have completed the cooling and fuel system. The last project we will do before starting the body work is the wiring harness.
My son and I would like to give a big thank you to LMC Truck for having the quality parts we need to complete this project correctly. We will update photos as we progress on this project.
