1978 Chevy C20 – Stephen H.

I purchased my 1978 Chevrolet C20 Silverado Camper Special new in Florida in April 1978. I also purchased the camper shell new in July 1978. The truck spent only 6 months on the East coast and the balance of its life (to date) has been in Orange County, California.
My goal has been to keep the truck “stock”. The original 350 engine failed (bad cam) and was replaced with a GM crate 350 @ 115,000 miles. The automatic transmission was rebuilt at the same time.

Presently the truck has 123,670 on the odometer and was repainted in 2008 with the original color package. The truck came equipped with power brakes, power steering, factory AC (refurbished many times), cruise control, power windows and power door locks. The vinyl seat has been redone and in the original pattern. This C20 is a very popular “square body” truck with folks of all ages. Until recently this truck had been for years supporting pickup and deliveries for a local food pantry.
