1986 Chevrolet K20 – Ross B.

In August of 2023 I found a good 3/4 ton frame for my K-10 I was going to restore, but decided to build a whole new truck when the seller had a decent cab in the woods I purchased too, The whole truck was built from parts aquired, most of which came from LMC. They were the saving grace to build a complete truck, especially body and interior wise. Just about everything was replaced, rebuilt or restored. I did all the work myself, other than the engine machine work. the paint is the cabs factory color, which grew on me, and my intensions were to have a K-20 that looked like it came right out of 1986, but with a modern Duramax and Allison discretely stuffed under the factory sheetmetal. It was a lot of work, and everything works as origionally intended, cruise control, AC which is very cold, delay wipers, original 4×4 floor shifter, column shifter, ect. It has a LBZ based Duramax 6.6l diesel, Allison 6 speed automatic. they were both build with parts to supply and withstand about 600 hp. 14 bolt full floater rear axle, 8.5 10 bolt front with 30 spline axel upgrade, 4.10 axel ratios. NP 205 transfer case with several upgrades to output shafts. Frame is boxed front to rear. Custom front springs, 7 leaf factory rear springs. Cross steer converted steering. the dash is a Dakota Digital dash, with an original look. I have put on about 3500 miles since its major completion in the spring of 2025. sometimes taking the hard way is the most satisfying way. (glad I didnt go the LS rout) ha ha.
