1996 GMC Sierra 1500 – Chad M.
I bought my truck back in 2002 while I was still on active duty in the Air Force — 188,000 miles already on the clock, but I saw something worth keeping. She’s been with me through multiple states, countless duty stations, and even while I served overseas. Through every move, deployment, and homecoming, she’s been right there — steady, reliable, and always ready to roll.
When she turned 25, I decided it was time to give her the kind of rebuild she’d earned after all those miles and memories. I went all in: dropped in a new 383 crate engine, a custom-built transmission, dual flow exhaust, upgraded the spider injector, intake spacer, electric fans, air breather, added air bags & leaf spring helpers for extra suspension and rear disk brakes. Complete sound dampening all around (you can hear a pin drop) and many more upgrades on the inside too! These days, if you can hook it up, she can haul it — no sweat.
To make sure she’ll be around for another 50 years, I had the entire underside media blasted and painted. This isn’t just a truck anymore — she’s a part of my story, a piece of my service, and a family heirloom that’ll get passed down long after I’ve hung up the keys.
