2001 Chevy S10 – David M.
Well, one day my oldest daughter comes up to me and said, Dad I would like to build a car with while you still can. So I said really?. I asked what kind of car would you like to build? She said a fast Camaro.. So I started looking for a Camaro that would fit a small budget. 2021-2022 was not a good time to look for a 1980’s Camaro on a budget. U was actually given one by a coworker. The car ended up being in worse shape than I thought it was. Long story short.. I bought 1993 Camaro a 1989 S10 then a 1997 extended cab S10. Then finally a 2001 S10 that had the better bones we was looking for. So we started cleaning up the 2001 truck and ordering parts. I had already had the motor (350) built and a th350 transmission built. Once we was ready, we put the trans and engine together and tried to put them into the truck as one unit. Well, with the hamburger oil pan it wouldn’t slide in. So we pulled it all back out. Pulled the motor and transmission apart and put the motor in place and then put transmission in from the bottom. Then over a 1.5 year period we slowly pieced it all together trying to keep the truck as stock looking as possible. So about July of 2024 we started the truck for the first time. We was so happy. We had finally heard our work come to life. Even though till this day is a weekly driver, there is still a bunch of work to be done. Our truck is a 2001 S10 standard cab the was originally a 4 cylinder 5 speed truck. Now it a sbc V8 with a 3 speed auto. 3.42 limited slip rear axle. Holly street demon carb. Trans and torque converter built by Alan pope performance. 350 sbc bored .60 over. Built by Dynamic machine and engines.
