1959 Chevy Apache – Doug K.
First vehicle I drove was a ’59 Apache when I was 5. It was in a harvested wheat field while my mother was swathing an adjacent field. I was hooked by the sound of a roaring v-8 with a rusted out exhaust. Got in some trouble of course. After 42 years of a law enforcement career I am now retired and working on my project. My father had a 1982 Chevy regular cab 3/4 ton 4×4 that was gathering dust in a Quonset for 16 years. My daughter and I towed it from the farm to our place. Put a battery in it and the diesel came back to life. Stripped it to the chassis, sold the diesel motor. Shortened the frame to correct wheelbase and the frame was same width so original cab mounts were mounted to a donor chassis. Ready to blast and paint the chassis, working on the cab at this time. Rebuilt 96 correct 350 with Sniper II waiting on the stand! My daughter has dibs when I am through in this life!
