1983 Chevy C10 – Robert W.
My story started about 25 years ago when my dad bought this truck. A light blue 1983 C10 custom deluxe short bed. After a little time driving my dad decided it was time to put a better motor in it. It originally came with a 305 motor, he decided to put a 383 Chevy stroker motor in it and that was a great motor. Until he let one of my buddy’s drive it. My buddy revved it too high and pulled the studs out the heads. Man my dad was so pissed. After he cooled down my dad decided to get another stroker motor from Summit Racing. My dad and I put that one in. A little father and son bonding, we were kind of like the American choppers, lol we would argue over little stuff all the time. I guess that was just how we worked together but we got the job done. That motor is currently still in the truck, my dad passed away in a work accident in June 2017. After that I inherited the truck and let’s just say it sat in the garage for a little while. Then I got married had kids and this last year I decided to refresh the truck up in honor of my dad just knowing if he seen all that I was doing to it he would be proud. I put all new pulleys water pump, power steering, aluminum radiator electric fan, I fixed all the gauges and lights in the dash that didn’t work. I put new bumpers, tail lights and redid the interior and all new breaks. I even put seats in the bed of the truck so I could fit my whole family in it when at the cruises, like Woodward Harper or East Pointe. My plans with the truck are to eventually pass it on to my son and keep it in the family. Until then we will enjoy the family cruises like I did with my dad so my son can grow up and appreciate the truck like I do. Thanks for reading my story.
