1988 Chevrolet Blazer – Jamie R.

As the daughter/ granddaughter/ sister of a long line of gear heads, I absorbed a lot of car knowledge and an affinity for cool trucks. My grandpa owned a Chevy dealership in the ’70s in south central Nebraska so naturally our family owned many cool Chevys over the years. In 1993 my parents bought this 1988 Blazer so my mom could use it as her daily driver in the rural Nebraska winters. After my dad passed in 2008, my brother took it in as a project and kept it in storage for the next 17 years. In May of 2025, I was telling him I’d been looking for a classic truck of my own. He encouraged me to take this one on, knowing he had too many projects of his own. We started the process of sorting out the many repairs a month later. Over the following 3 months we spoke daily and he helped me with so many decisions. At the end of October it was finally ready to come home. He got to take it for one drive. The next week he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and he was gone from this world in less than a month. I really never knew how special this truck would be to me and I’m honored to be it’s keeper every single time I drive it.
