1966 Chevrolet C10 – Lee W.

I bought the truck in 1994 from a neighbor when I was 18 years old. I saved up all summer long and gave him $300. I searched all the junk yards at the time for parts. Luckily back then a person could still find a lot of these old trucks. I was hellbent to find a 400 Chevy small block. Our town had Saturdat night drags at an old airport so after a few months of wrenching, I had it there making passes. Of course I broke everything at one point or another during all that and finally life made me put the old pile of junk on the back burner. I tore the whole truck apart through the years and would find time to do things like sand blast and paint the frame, repair cab floor boards, rocker panels and etc.. I had offers to sell the truck at times and almost did on a couple of occasions. Finally in 2019, I decided it was time to finish the job properly. I had bought lots of nice stuff through the years for the truck, so I had plenty of good parts to work with. The truck spent the next couple of years at a good friend of mines body shop. I took the motor to our local machine shop to get a fresh build on the same 400. It took another year to assemble after the paint was done. Now I drive around nervous. It might have been more fun when it was a rusted out drag truck but I couldn’t be happier with how it ended up. I thank my wonderful wife for not killing me during the course of all this and my friends for all their help. I’ve been lucky enough to win plenty of trophies and even a few best of shows. It’s pretty much old school with carbs and a turbo 400 transmission. Lots and lots of LMC parts! Couldn’t have done it without them.
