1978 Ford Bronco – Rob F.
I consider myself lucky to have found a ’78 Bronco in good condition, with minimal rust for a 48 year-old truck. I was also lucky that someone along the way started putting some TLC into her with a rebuilt 351M, addition of a Holley Sniper EFI, new seats, windshield and presumably paint and striping at some point. And that would be fine if that was all she needed, but as we all know there is a lot more to trucks of this age than aesthetics, and oftentimes they need a lot of attention. I’ve gladly spent hundreds of hours wrenching on the vehicle, working on everything from mechanical, electrical, custom upholstery, paint and body repair, wheel upgrades and audio work. I’ve pulled broken seat frames out and re-welded them. I’ve fixed oil leaks. I’ve rewired lights, replaced countless nuts and bolts, upgraded the smallest of rubber pieces, and generally made her a better truck, day by day. I can easily keep working on this truck for quite some time to come, and am happy to do so.
Oftentimes strangers ask me “Hey was that truck like that when you got it??” and I know they are generally referring to the paint and stripe scheme, and general aesthetics. In that sense the short answer would be “yes, it was like that”. But in my mind, I have a difficult time answering the question – in my mind I think about the box in my garage FULL of rusty nuts, bolts, old rubber pieces, brackets, light bulbs, trim pieces, electrical components, and who-knows-what else I have swapped out or cleaned up on the truck. So in that sense, my mind wants to say “no, actually she WASN’T that way when I got her!”.
Thanks to LMC Truck, I will keep working on my Bronco and making her better, every day. It never ceases to amaze me how many parts and pieces I can find online, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve looked at the LMC website, sat back and thought to myself “man I can’t believe they actually have that part!”.
Happy motoring!
