1989 Ford Bronco – Kurt M.

After 2 years of my youngest son bugging me to buy my Dodge Challenger, I gave in and took a 1989 Ford Bronco that had been sitting around for many years along with $10K in cash. This was a solid rig and worth putting the effort into. I started with getting the mechanical side of the house in line with new clutch, throw out bearing and flywheel. Next, to get it going straight it got a new wheel bearings, ball joints, u-joints and 4 wheel alignment. To keep it cool, I installed a 3-ply aluminum radiator and new fluids. After 13 weeks of bodywork and paint it was ready for a new windshield, trim, grill and lights. The interior carpet and upholstery was replaced and all interior panels were removed and sprayed with a vinyl paint color matched to factory stock color. It looks and drives like new. The 302/5 speed combo makes it a blast to drive. This was my daughter in law’s first vehicle ever and she had hung onto it for 16 years with the intention of never selling it. Little does she know the chance of this Bronco leaving the family are slim to none. I hope to be able to give it back to her someday when the time is right.
