1979 Ford F150 – Joseph S.

I am sending this story in without his knowledge as a surprise to him. At age 14, my son decided it was time to buy a truck. He has always liked old Ford trucks, (kind of runs in the family) so we started looking. We were all set to go out of state to get a southern truck that didn’t need a lot of body work. We were arguing about it one night when my wife said how about this one and showed us one on Facebook Marketplace. The truck was in a neighboring town, and the next day we helped him buy it and hauled it home. As most projects go, we were just going to fix a few things so he could drive it as his first truck. Well… it kind of snowballed and before you know it, it was spread out all over the shop and our dining room floor. Four years and lots of parts, time and a few tears along the way, his dream became a reality. I helped him a lot with this build, but he put in the time and financed most of it himself. We did the body work and all the mechanical work ourselves, other than the engine and transmission. He did a lot of the research along the way, as well as asking a friend that has a few of these trucks a lot of questions. A lot of the parts were sourced from LMC and I’m sure more will be in the future. I don’t think this truck will ever be “done”. He’s found out it’s pretty cool to be in the driver seat and hear the words “nice truck!”
