1969 GMC K10 – Kyle B.

My father and I started this restoration which took about four years from start to finish. We found the truck from a local radio sales show and contacted the owner. We came home with this 1969 GMC Short wide 4×4 that we pushed onto the trailer and handed the guy 800 dollars. We got it home and tore the entire vehicle apart and started with a frame on stands. After completely restoring the frame we installed the TH-400 transmission, NP 205 transfer case and a small block Chevy 350 with aluminum heads, March pulley system and electric fans pushing about 425 hp. We then went through the oversized running gear we found and rebuilt them and removing all brake lines and the original spring and shock mounts to reposition them. After mounting them up to a 6 inch spring lift and a 1 inch body lift we pieced together a 4 wheel disc brake conversion with the assistance of a hydro boost kit in the engine compartment and hidden brake lines with only stainless braided lines punched through the frame and a line lock for the parking brake. The rear mounted fuel tank was installed and plumbed and custom bent exhaust installed by CES in Bend, Oregon we were now ready for work on the body. After body work and stripping all original trim we shot Chrysler surf pearl blue paint inside and out. With an excellent outcome, we put an entire new grill assembly, bumper, new mirrors, and marker lights leaving the stainless trim and badges off. Next came the interior wiring and interior restoration. New carpet and custom upholstery with a new gauge cluster and ididit stainless column as well as custom stereo and new knobs and door sills we finished the interior. To finish it off we tinted the windows added a few minor touches and this is what we have ended up with.
