1976 Ford F150-Kristen M.

When it became time for me to learn how to drive my mom would not let me use the family car for driving lessons. So my dad told me if I wanted to drive I would have to get the old ’76 running to learn on.
This old truck came into our family on a repo so we had no clue if it had any major problems or anything about it. It had been sitting in our yard for a while and I was up to the challenge of fixing the beast up.
My dad help me with a couple things like moving it to the shop with a fork lift, taking the old deformed 33s off to put on 31s, and eventually starting it up. But before we could try to start it I gave it a tune up, replaced the starter, replaced the carburetor, replaced the ignition and more little things that we had problem with along the way.
The night that we gave it a try at starting it up, it wouldn’t turn over. We hoped it was just a bad starter so I changed it out real fast and gave it another go. With a little try it started up and my first was “Yay, It starts!!” Second thought was “Wow this is really loud!” Probably because half the exhaust was missing. Some things we figured out when my dad took me for a test run in it was the gauges didn’t work, the head lights only worked sometimes, and the timing was a little off. But it still did donuts in the dirt field and speed up pretty fast, that first night was one of the best memories I have in my truck.
My dad gave me driving lessons in it and I also learned to drive stick on it! I fell in love with this truck and it’s still a big project but it’s my project. I’m still makin memories in this truck and it still has a lot of stories left in it.
