1986 Chevy Silverado – John P.

Imagine you are 16 and your dad helps you buy an all original 1986 C10 Silverado 1500. You love this truck, you have been a bow tie fan your whole life. The. You turn 17 and decide you want to make the truck unique. You want to lower it and put wheels on it and make it more your style. Your dad, rightfully so, would not allow you to turn a 68,000 mile all original super clean truck into what you want. So you sell the truck and buy a dodge (gasp) did some things to it and then rolled it over 3 times and survived. You buy another Chevy but not the one you had and for the next 15 years, you regret ever selling the C10.

That’s my story, that’s how my passion for these trucks started. I’m 31 now and about 8 months ago I came across an 86 C10 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. I got my trailer and headed from Ft Worth to bring her home from Oklahoma.

I got back with it, it had a busted radiator, busted fan, ugly wheels, and the horrible chrome cowboy bumper. My original plan was I bought it to sell to make extra money. My wife saw how my eyes lit up and how I was 16 again and she said no way was I ever going to sell this truck.

My dreams from when I was 16 came flooding back. So with help from LMC, I ditched the cowboy bumper for a beautiful chrome rear bumper and I lowered the truck 5/6 and threw some boss 338’s on new shoes under her. It has a 350 TPI motor and it has a long way to go but I wanted to share my story and my pics and am exciting.
