1989 GMC Sierra – Fred D.
This truck came into our family in 1996 when my wife’s grandmother purchased the truck for her husband. I admired the truck from the beginning due to the truck having a V8 coupled with a 5-speed transmission. The truck was one of many vehicles that Pappow had and it eventually was replaced as his daily driver by a new Colorado. The truck became one that he kept sentimentally, but it mostly sat out in the weather and was driven by family members when they needed to haul stuff. The engine blew in the early 2000’s and Pappow and his son replaced the blown 305 with a crate 350. It continued to sit and deteriorate. In the spring of 2012 Pappow’s health was declining and I offered to buy the truck. I had offered to buy it many times before but he always priced it out of my reach. This time he agreed to sell it for the price I offered. I drove it home from his place in Tn to Myrtle Beach and used it as my weekend ride. In January of 2013, I was rear-ended in the truck. I took the opportunity to replace the grille, lights, bumpers, moldings, and emblems using LMC’S catalog. Now the truck has been returned to the shape it was in when Mammaw bought it for Pappow back in 1996. Mammaw and Pappow are both gone now, but I think they would be proud of how it came out. I couldn’t have done it without the high quality and affordable parts from LMC truck!! Thanks!
