1987 Chevy Scottsdale – Dave H.
Husbands Truck – Wife’s story
Let me start by saying Dave has always been into vehicles and in our 24 years together he has owned many nice ones, I have witnessed him create with his own mind and hands some very impressive things over the years but, nothing even comes close in comparison to the things he has created for his truck
We purchased the Scottsdale in December of 2011 and at that point I knew Dave would be spending countless hours in our garage bringing the truck to his “standards”, but I had no idea the extremes he would be going to. He got a LMC truck catalog and starting ordering all the parts he needed. Of course he did the “usual”, a whole body restoration, new paint, new rims and tires, a lift kit because a truck is not a “truck” if it’s not lifted. New upholstery, new stereo system, the list goes on and on and there is only so much room allowed for the story.
Last summer Dave decided to make a camper type area if you will in the back of his truck like the one his father had when he was a kid , going off nothing more than a very old picture he built this in the back of the truck on his own and in our garage . might I add nothing on this truck was done by any outside shops all the work has been done in our garage at home and by Dave, he has had a couple buddies help here and there and well I myself am a pretty good wet sander I must say. But otherwise it has been 90% all him. He bought a camper top and painted it to match the truck, put a stereo in the back, there is storage under the seats and he did all the lighting back there as well. He made, yes made on his own a LED license plate for the front bumper with our last name on it. even though he has spent countless hours in our garage and as a wife I get frustrated because I swear he loves that truck more than me. I am so proud and blown away by all the creations he has made on the truck and the amazing talent Dave has. His hard work and Gorgeous Truck needs to be on the cover of LCM, it would mean so much to me for him to get that issue in the mail and see his truck on the cover, although he has no idea I am doing this and knowing him the pictures I sent to you will probably not be good enough I really think he would be touched to know his hard work is noticed. Since I sent in this Story back in February. My husband took 2nd place at the Detroit Autorama on February 26th 2016. So I was able to attach better pictures than the first time
Sincerely,
Leighanne
