1987 Chevy C20 – Cody B.
| I purchased this truck around August of 2015 from southern PA as pictured on the trailer. She would start but did not run very well. After doing plenty of work to make her road worthy and waiting 6 months for the title I finally got it inspected and on the road. It ran descent enough to get me through the winter so I could park my RSX … At least so I thought. The third day of having it on the road it blew a connecting rod at which point I disassembled the 350 that was in it to find out the block was just a piece of scrap metal at that point. I found myself a 454 from a mud truck that was claimed to run and after inspection I believed the same. I cleaned and dressed up the engine along with electric fans and a big block radiator which was made much simpler thanks to LMC. I go to school as a double major in mechanical and aerospace engineering so money is fairly tight so I had skipped inspection of the cam and bearings since it was said to run. After swapping the motor in I found out that she needs bearings and a new cam so it is currently awaiting machining on the block. It has a 6 inch suspension lift from blocks and shackle flips. It sits on 37″ tires with Dana axels. I’ve rewired most of the lighting and plan to do rockers, floor pans, cab corners and some paint to it all with help from LMC’s great availability of body panels to these trucks. After that I plan to clean the interior up. I bought it as a winter driver but that has quickly escalated into my main project as my car isn’t getting any love anytime soon. I also made that bowtie emblem on the front from scratch. |
