1982 Chevy C10 – Jesse Z.
This story begins with Jesse noticing his grandfather’s 1982 Chevy C10 at his dad’s house and that the truck was very beat up. Jesse’s father had kept the truck when his grandfather passed away. There were no plans to sell the truck, but his father didn’t have the time to fix it either.
Jesse and his wife have been married for 11 years and hadn’t had any children. His father paid for IVF treatments. Jesse and his wife didn’t know who was paying until the end. His father never asked for anything or really said that he was involved. That’s just the way he is, old school.
It really meant a lot to Jesse and his wife and they wanted to do something special for his father. Jesse asked him what his father was going to do with the old truck and his father told him if that if he wanted it, then he should take it.
So they did. They decided to fix the truck and give it back to him. The teardown began. Jesse and his wife worked tirelessly to get the truck back to its glory days. Tearing it down, sourcing parts, all of it was more work than they initially thought.
The build allowed them to meet new people. Walter had an ad selling used parts for older Chevy trucks. When Jesse met him, they talked for a while and after hearing their story, Walter let them go through his whole inventory. When they found the missing parts, Walter told them to just take them.
Tony, Jesse’s friend, offered to paint the truck which was more work than they thought, but they painted it rugged brown.
Just before this last Father’s Day, Jesse and his wife finished the truck and delivered it to his dad.
“My wife and I wanted to do something special for my dad.”
