1970 Ford F100-Randy P.
My dad has a 1970 Ford F100. It has been in his life since he was 4 years old. He always loved the truck since he was a little kid and when he got old enough to drive he always wanted it but his relatives wouldnt sell it. Years and years went by and he kept trying to get it. Then in the early 90s it was painted a dark blue instead of the original color code 7 Harbor Blue. He did not like the color and it was machine paint instead of car paint. He got it after 17 years of trying from th time he was 15. And it was rough and interior was shot. Needed lots of tender loving care. It had rusty wheels and hubcaps and the original bias ply nylon tires on it. He ordered brand new chrome rims and cooper cobra radial g/t tires and had it painted the factory color with a new rubbers around doors, and new dash pad way back when. then the wheels started getting rust on it so he got a set of 15×8.5 aluminum sawblade wheels which looked best on the truck with 235/70/15 bf goodrich tires. It has scratches and such on the 19 year old paint. He bought it on 1-27-98 and he still has it to this day and one day it will be mine and i will redo it back to the way he always had it. all original but the wheels. We have done everything in this truck from car shows to hauling firewood. I remember as a little kid standing in the seat and now i drive it everywhere. but I’m waiting until he gets older and cant drive the 3 speed as good as he used to. The original owner just passed away and the last thing he said to my dad was “when you selling me my truck back” and dad said ” no i can’t sell my truck.” The truck had been tortured going down dirt roads doing 65 before he got it and he treated it like the queen of england and dad wanted a new motor in it back in 1998 but he changed his mind and the motor has never been out and has over 600,000 miles on it. He put over 98,500 on it since 1998. It has saved our lives and been through literally blood, sweat, and tears in it. It has a 1972 grille because we hit an owl in the original grille and busted it. But that’s ok it still looks like “old blue.” It is not a show truck its just a good looking daily driver that we take to car shows. Its hauling life is over we just haul our butts in it. After 19 years of pleasure and excitement, it is apart of the family and we cant get rid of it because it is family. It hasn’t been wrecked every body piece is original and came like it did in 1970. We don’t like modifying anything but exhaust & wheels. we just had flowmaster exhaust put on it. It went a long way from just seeing it from 4 years old, to trying to buy it when he was 15 or 16 to buying it in 1998. it has been fixed up and kept in a shed since 2015. but no rust. it has never been in the salt weather or bad cold or bad hot weather. so it stayed in the right weather to never have any damage. If it could talk it can tell some incredible stories.
