1965 Chevy C20 – Jack M.

Kids these days don’t know how to turn wrenches (most anyhow). I grew up working on everything mechanical with my Dad and learned more than just what a socket was. I wanted my son to have the same type of education. Since I am a professional and don’t get greasy daily, I tasked my father and son to find an engine to rebuild and that we would find a vehicle for the engine later. They sourced a local ad and picked up a “ready-to-go” engine three years ago. They set out to break it down to verify and found the engine far from “ready=to-go”. Off to the machine shop for block honing and boring. Starting with a block, they rebuilt a beautiful 1971 Chevy V8 350 “police” engine. Our friend had a contact in Mississippi who had a “clean” pickup truck he was interested in moving. So off to Biloxi, MS my son and i went two years ago with a car trailer to bring home this 1965 Chevy C20 pickup. We stripped the truck to the frame, sent it to the sand blaster and are almost ready for paint. The three generations of us have not spent so much quality time laughing, arguing being frustrated with each other and being totally proud of creating something beautiful.
