1966 Ford Stepside – Edward W.
I inherited this truck in the earlier 90’s from my wife’s uncle that no longer wanted to use the truck on his McDade, TX ranch. Marvin and Mamie Kanetzky special ordered this truck from Dregar Motor Co. Inc., Georgetown, TX in 1966. The Kanetzky’s did not have any children; at that time they were well up in age. They used the truck to feed their cattle, when I first saw the truck I fell in love with it. Every time my wife and I would go visit them I would go look at the old ford. Then when Marvin’s wife Mamie passed away, he no longer used the truck for anything. Then one day he called me and asks if I still wanted the old truck, I almost fell out. As soon as I could I drove my family over to McDade to talk with Marvin about it. When I arrived he had the old truck up at the house, so I asked him what he wanted for it. He must have known I didn’t have much money. At that time in my life I was trying to raise 3 small kids, so he told me just take it. My heart started racing. I then found words to offer him something and he said no. Then I said no I have to pay you something, so I said I’ll pay you a dollar for it! He agreed. When I got home with the ford it had 80,000 original miles on it.
Since then I changed out the tires, wheels, repainted the truck, new seat covers, new flooring – OEM original mat, new battery and new wind shield. It has an original 352 engine and is 4 wheel drive. To me it’s beautiful. I still drive it every time I get a chance. When my wife and I go to live with the Lord, the truck will be passed on to one of our children. I am and will continue to keep the old truck alive.
Thanks to LMC for all the parts, they have supplied.
Thanks again;
