1966 Ford F250- Lorne R.

I was 15 yrs old, living in rural Morris, Manitoba, Canada, when dad surprised our family with this new pickup. Not having a drivers license yet, limited my driving to farm duties and visits to neighbor friends, or so my dad thought. I put this pickup through the paces all right. Thankfully nobody got hurt in the process! On the farm this truck hauled everything from hogs to grains and in helping my brother’s family move way up north, to Flin Flon Manitoba, pulling a U-Haul loaded to the gills! After a heavy rain it became a towing vehicle, as I learned how to water ski in a flooded ditch! All shined up it served me well on dates, with now my wife of 48 yrs., going water skiing, these times behind my homemade speed boat! In mid 1970s I purchased this pickup from dad and later in 1978 it was part of the caravan that helped move us to Pembina County, North Dakota, USA to start an all welded hopper bin manufacturing business, Lorrich Ind. Inc.. There this trusty pickup stepped to the plate to haul these bins throughout the Midwest. Larger bins and semi trucks now take its place. Through the years and 180,000 plus miles this pickup has been most reliable. It sat idle from 1983 till 2017 and unfortunately the neighbor boys busted all the glass just before I was to restore it. So I purchased another cab with good glass and with LMC parts was able to get it back to a very enjoyable pickup. Not wanting to lose its age old lure I opted not to repaint it. The visors, steering wheel, gear shift and the dashboard got recovered with help from my wife, using vinyl bought from Jo Anne’s Fabric! We now use it to go for rides with our children, grandkids and friends. Local parades and car shows like this “familiar” old pickup hitched to another restored project of the fore mentioned speed boat and trailer that I built at age 16 yrs.
