PATCHES

I was driving down Highway 41 when I first saw a 1955 Cameo coming down the road. I blocked the approaching truck with my new Ford Ranger. I told the driver I wanted to buy his truck and gave him my phone number. He said, “It’s not for sale.” I told everything is for sale. He called that night. This was around 1972. With that truck, I taught seven kids how to drive, built three houses and two restaurants, and made passionate love both in the cab, and hood, top, and bed of truck. I named the truck Patches because I kept her patched together in the early years.I still have her and I am thinking of a new paint job…maybe.
